September 30, 2013:

Hello Busy Bees!    Just a reminder for Wednesday.

Maybe some of you will want to sew up a mega log cabin block for preemies  or Prevent Child Abuse (PCA) kids. We could get some cutters  to  feed you the logs. The center could be any size but recommendation is to cut something at least 3.5" square and then go from that to add each log.  Easy peasy, right?
Since there are 4 machines and we have thread, maybe we could start the log cabin with the same 3.5" or 4" center and then cut 2.5" - 3.5" strips and mix them up so each "cabin" could be a bit different in placement, but same fabrics. We could just keep adding logs (we're strong  so can do that nicely) until the block is 24" or 30" or so for the preemies.  After we make 4 of those, then we could make 4  larger ones for the PCA kids.  OR we could make the PCA kids ones first.

Would anyone like to sew up 3 or 4 dog  bags that can be handed out at the Guild meeting? Some members said they'd take one home to fill up and sew closed and then bring back  (could take several months to fill one) if we had the bags to give them.

Some of our fair members will be on a  jaunty Holiday.  We might turn a little green with envy, but for sure are happy for you!

cya Wednesday morning any time after 9:30.

Here's just some of what we've been doing this month.

Kathy's cutting.

Shake it down, make a little more room for stuffing.

Jan has already made a horse quilt from other horse panels, and then these were found.

another Preemie quilt from a neat block.

Joan brought a lot of scraps to the guild meeting for stuffing dog bags.

Phyllis has a very cool quilting application - portable!

Getting some ideas

hummmmmmmm

It's this tall

Let's see if this works

Making a plan

September 20, 2013:

One person who didn't see the email in time that 3rd Friday was cancelled came today and was the only one there.

In future reminders about 3rd Friday maybe I could include a "reply all" request so everyone will know whether or not to come...  or, other suggestions?
How does the bee want to handle this?

As you might recall, and for you new to the charity bee,
our Community Service Charity Bee made a beautiful quilt for the Sandy Creek Nature Center some time ago for them to raffle off.
As a way for them to say Thank You to their supporters, WE - Yes! any and all of us in this bee, no matter if you are long time comers or new to the bee, are invited to:

September 18, 2013:

I've been working on a rather complicated non-quilting project.   After roughly 50 hours of work...I would like to present the new Cotton Patch Quilters website!  It is still at the old web address.

http://www.cpquilters.org/

All of the information that was on the old website has been incorporated into the new site.

There are two social media updates...
We now have a Twitter account:
https://twitter.com/CPQAthensGa

We also have a new Facebook page. There was an technical issue with the old Facebook page, so if you are already following the old Facebook page, please join the new one here:
https://www.facebook.com/CPQAthensGA

Three highlights:

- There is now a blog built into the website.   I will be posting announcements, news, events, workshops, photographs, etc.  New blog posts will automatically show up on the new CPQ Facebook on Twitter pages.   You can also help promote CPQ events with a single click on a blog post to share to your Facebook and Twitter friends!

- The MembersOnly area can still be accessed with the same password that was used in the old website.  You no longer need the username.

- The new website is smartphone and tablet friendly.   iPhones, iPads, Android phones and tablets will see a version specifically formatted for them!

Please feel free to explore the new website!
